Educate yourself and your team on the barriers that disabled people face

Educate yourself and your team to understand that disability & accessibility is a part of life and is inevitable, because if we live long enough we will at some point acquire a disability through either an accident, illness or old age.

Write a list of all the times you have felt restricted or disabled by the world around you. Pregnancy, getting older, sporting injury. Then write down all the things you struggled to do, and the things you decided not to do because you were inhibited.

Barriers are complex and as you make changes you will become more and more aware of where those barriers exist:
* attitudinal
* systemic
* architectural
* information
* technology

Also educate on common assumptions people may make, e.g. not all deaf people know BSL and may need something else such as a palantypist

Seek out people like Nick Wilson who creates videos like this one to build awareness of what can make a difference.
